In many real projects, customers do not simply use a standard pan tilt unit. Instead, the PTU often needs to be customized according to the actual payload, system integration method, and application scenario.
A pan tilt unit is essentially a stable and controllable motion platform. It can be used not only with traditional payloads such as visible cameras, thermal cameras, lasers, and laser rangefinders, but also with radar, antennas, communication equipment, industrial sensors, and many other special devices. As long as the payload weight, size, center of gravity, and mounting method meet the design requirements, the PTU can serve as a motion platform for a wide range of equipment.
However, different payloads have different dimensions, center of gravity positions, signal interfaces, power requirements, control methods, cable routing needs, and working environments. Different systems also require different integration solutions. Therefore, the pan tilt unit needs to be customized and integrated based on the customer’s actual payload and overall project requirements, so that it can properly match the complete system solution.
This is why PTU customization is often necessary. It is not only about selecting a standard model, but about building a suitable motion platform around the customer’s actual equipment, application scenario, and system architecture.
