Airport flight safety requires strict management of the surrounding operating environment. Among various safety factors, bird activity is one of the key risks that airports must continuously monitor and manage. When birds enter runways, taxiways, or airport clearance areas, they may pose potential risks to aircraft takeoff and landing operations. Therefore, airports often need to deploy efficient, reliable, and remotely controllable bird deterrent systems to reduce the safety risks caused by bird gatherings.
In the bird deterrent system project at Macao Airport, the customer required a pan-tilt unit capable of carrying a high-power acoustic device and adjusting its direction. This would allow the acoustic bird deterrent equipment to be flexibly aimed according to the direction of bird activity on site, thereby improving the efficiency and coverage of the bird control operation.

The core requirement of this project was not traditional video surveillance, but the use of the pan-tilt unit as a carrying and directional platform for a high-power acoustic device. The customer needed the PTU to stably support the top-mounted acoustic equipment and provide smooth and reliable directional control in an outdoor airport environment.
Because airport applications place high demands on equipment stability, safety, and long-term operation, the pan-tilt unit needed to feature strong structural strength, outdoor protection capability, and accurate angle control. At the same time, the equipment also needed to be integrated with the customer’s existing bird deterrent system to support remote control and directional acoustic bird control on site.

Based on the customer’s application scenario and payload characteristics, ZIWIN provided a pan-tilt unit suitable for carrying the acoustic bird deterrent device. As a key actuator in the system, the PTU is mainly responsible for supporting the acoustic equipment and adjusting the pan and tilt angles, allowing the sound waves to be directed more accurately toward the target area.
ZIWIN’s pan-tilt unit adopts a robust mechanical structure design, ensuring stable operation in outdoor environments. Through controllable pan and tilt movement, the acoustic device can be directed according to the actual needs of the airport site, helping the customer achieve more flexible and efficient bird deterrent operations.
In this project, ZIWIN provided not only a standard pan-tilt product, but also a system component matched and supported according to the customer’s specific application requirements. Through integration with the customer’s equipment, the PTU provided a reliable carrying platform and precise directional control capability for the acoustic bird deterrent system.
