Italy Telecom Tower Project – Successful Acceptance

Deployment of ZIWIN Heavy Duty Pan Tilt Unit on Italian Telecom Infrastructure

Deployment of ZIWIN Heavy Duty Pan Tilt Unit on Italian Telecom Infrastructure

Background

Italy operates an extensive network of telecom towers across urban, rural, and coastal regions. These steel towers are essential components of national communication networks, supporting microwave links, emergency communication systems, and infrastructure monitoring.

To improve long-range monitoring and reduce on-site maintenance workload, an Italian engineering contractor required a high-load heavy duty pan tilt head capable of supporting multi-sensor optical equipment at elevated outdoor positions.

Customer Requirements

The customer sought a durable heavy duty pan tilt unit that could reliably carry and control:

- Long-range visible cameras

- Thermal imaging sensors

- IR/laser illumination

- Weatherproof optical housings

- Additional auxiliary monitoring modules

The communication tower was located near an industrial and transportation zone in northern Italy, where strong winds and temperature variations are common.

ZIWIN Solution

ZIWIN supplied a heavy duty pan tilt unit engineered for harsh outdoor environments, high wind load, and multi-sensor integration.

Delivered Features

1. High Payload Capacity

The ZIWIN heavy duty pan tilt unit supports combined long-range optical payloads with excellent mechanical stability.

2. Precision Angle Control

Smooth azimuth and elevation control ensures clear long-distance observation, tower inspection, and perimeter protection.

3. Excellent Wind Resistance

The reinforced drive system allows the PTU to remain stable on tall communication tower structures.

4. Remote Operation

Technicians can monitor, adjust camera angles, and perform diagnostics remotely, minimizing the need for tower climbing.

5. Quick Integration

The PTU was mounted directly to the tower’s side frame using customized brackets, without major structural changes.

On-Site Deployment and Acceptance

The installation was completed jointly by ZIWIN engineers and the Italian project team. The deployed system included:

- A long-range visible camera

- A thermal imaging module

- IR illumination

- Custom cabling

- The ZIWIN heavy duty pan tilt unit

After full system alignment, monitoring tests, and stability verification, the project successfully passed all acceptance standards.

Customer Testimonial

“The ZIWIN heavy duty pan tilt unit performs with great stability and precision. Even under strong winds, the movement is smooth and accurate. Installation was efficient, and the system fully meets our monitoring requirements.”

Project Benefits

- Enhanced monitoring for high-value telecom tower assets

- Reduced need for repeated technician climbing

- 24/7 observation using thermal + visible imaging

- Stable and reliable performance in Italian industrial and coastal environments

- Strong motion control for multi-sensor long-range payloads
